Signs to notice
- An “emergency” call from a loved one who needs money fast.
- A request to keep it secret.
- Payment by gift card, crypto or cash.
Safe moves
- Set up a family safe word, a word only your family knows, to ask on any “emergency” call.
- Remind them: no real agency asks for gift cards, crypto or cash.
- Save the Elder Fraud Hotline: 1-833-FRAUD-11.
